Michael Friedman’s Martian Dawn & Other Novels, a collection of three novels, is out from Little A, the literary fiction imprint of Amazon Publishing, in May 2015. His first novel, Martian Dawn, was originally published by Turtle Point Press in 2006, and he is also the author of several collections of poetry, including the book of prose poems Species (The Figures, 2000). From 1986 to 2008 he edited the influential literary journal Shiny, which he cofounded. His poetry has appeared in several anthologies, including Great American Prose Poems: From Poe to the Present (Scribner, 2003), and in many journals, including American Poetry Review and New American Writing. His fiction has appeared in The Hat and Denver Quarterly. Friedman was previously chair of the board of The Poetry Project at St. Mark’s Church in New York City and an adjunct faculty member in the MFA writing program at Naropa University in Boulder. He grew up in Manhattan, was educated at Columbia, Yale and Duke, and lives in Denver where he is a practicing attorney.
